Eliza Furnace: Aeropress Recipe

The AeroPress always wows us with the coffee you can make, and we’ve been loving brewing our Eliza Furnace blend with it! The cup of coffee we get from it is full in flavor and body thanks to the immersion brew style similar to a French press - but with plenty of clarity from the paper filter the AeroPress uses. The recipe is also super quick, easy, and repeatable - yielding a tasty cup in under 3 minutes! Check out our recipe, make it at home, and let us know what you think!

The Recipe

  • Coffee: 12 grams

  • Water: 190 grams @ 203°F or just off of boil

  • Grind Size: Fine to Medium-Fine (Pictured for reference)

    • 12 clicks on Comandante C40

  • Aeropress Position: Inverted

Directions:

  1. Invert AeroPress - placing the plunger a 1/2 inch into the top of the brewer

  2. Rinse filter in the cap and set aside

  3. Add 12 grams of ground coffee into the brewer

  4. Place brewer on scale - and begin pouring water up to 190 grams

  5. At 30 seconds, stir the coffee in the brewer - back and forth - for 10 seconds

  6. After stirring, screw the cap with rinsed filter onto the brewer

  7. At 2:00 minutes, flip the AeroPress onto your server or mug and gently press the plunger down

  8. Push all liquid through - and your brew should be done between 2:30 and 2:45 min!

The coffee should be full and moderately heavy in body, have a syrupy mouthfeel, with milk chocolate sweetness that develops into a dark chocolate finish with a pleasant bitterness. If the coffee turns out a tad too bitter and dry - try making the grind coarser! If it tastes acidic and hollow - try making the grind finer!
