Bai Mu Dan (aka White Peony) is typically picked right after the earliest silver needles pickings—resulting in a tea full of downy silver buds and very downy young leaves. This gives the tea an extremely creamy mouth feel and a bolder floral aroma and flavor than most white teas. Mr. Yeng’s mountain farm has a very cool, misty microclimate that makes his tea particularly rich and sweet. Mr. Yeng embraces sustainable practices such as growing beans alongside his teas to divert hungry bugs. This is one of the most nuanced, interesting teas in China.
