Produced by the He family—tea leaves are hand-picked on the misty side of their mountain, starting each day at 5am. They are then air dried in bamboo buckets before being withered in a woodfired cylindrical drum. They are inspected, and then curled into their distinctive twisted shape using a hand driven set up curling plates. The leaves then spend three days oxidizing in bamboo trays and then are finished in special bags placed in the sun. Lastly, they spend some time in a wood fired dyer to remove moisture and undergo a final inspection. It’s this distinctive process and attention to detail that gives this tea it’s extremely unique flavor of roasted marshmallows and s’mores.
