Kamwangi

Karuya

Kenya has long held ‘legendary’ status among coffee lovers. In addition to outstanding growing conditions, especially in the hills and mountains surrounding Mt. Kenya, Kenya boasts a long tradition of investment in scientific research and development around coffee. This has lead to the development of unique varietals (like SL28 and SL34) that showcase sparkling acidity and intense juiciness. This particular Kenyan demonstrates more clarity and citrusy notes than some Kenyas, which can taste almost vegetal and brothy (in a good way of course). If you’re not yet familiar with top-notch Kenyan coffee, you owe it to yourself to give this a try. Great with any brew method, coffees like this especially shine as a pour-over, drank black, on a balcony with someone you love. Rinse and repeat.

MORE ABOUT THIS COFFEE

Among coffee lovers, Kenya has reached legendary status, for a good reason. Since gaining independence in 1963, Kenya has developed a reputation for employing progressive farming, processing and distribution techniques resulting in very high-quality coffee. Also, many of Kenya's farmers are themselves highly educated in coffee production. This focus combined with ideal, high-altitude growing conditions allow for some of the most intensely juicy and complex coffees in the world. This coffee comes from the Rwaikamba Farmer’s Cooperative Society, which owns several mills in the area and is comprised of about 4,500 small-holder members. Hand picked, wet processed and dried in the sun on raised beds.
