GESHA MALLORCA

We’ve waited nearly three years to roast the famed Gesha varietal. Renowned for wild flavors, intense florals, tea-like body and astronomic prices, Gesha has taken the coffee world by storm. We’ve held off till now because we’ve been searching for one that demonstrates the potential that Gesha can offer, without breaking the bank. In other words, instead of selling a 4oz bag for $45, we wanted to find  one was still incredibly delicious, yet affordable so that more people could try it. And when we found that our good friends at Tio Conejo in Colombia had one that fit the bill, we decided to go for it–and we’re glad we did. Wild florals, tons of sweetness and complexity abound.

We only bought 200 lbs., so we’ll release about 100 bags. You’ll also be able to sample it at our cafe during the month of December, while it lasts.

Santiago Londono is a third generation coffee producer, and has been growing award-winning Geshas at Hacienda Mallorca since 2010. We found Santiago via The Castellanos Family of Cafe Tio Conejo, who we've been working with since mid 2019. The Castellanos also grow coffee in the region, and on their last visit to Pittsburgh, graced us with samples of this lovely natural Gesha from Hacienda Mallorca, which is not too far from their own farm.

Hacienda is set in Caicedonia, Colombia, just over 1600 meters above sea level. Known as a pioneer of natural processing in Colombia, Santiago harvests the coffee at 80% ripe, with 20% just over-ripe--for additional sweetness and intense flavor.
